This site has been in existence for a few weeks now, and I suppose that it’s time for me to state my mission here. Since it may take me more than one attempt to do so, I have set up “Mission” as a category, and I will make necessary posts to the category.

This project really began in April, 2001. That was when I was laid off from my long-time job as a senior systems analyst for a computer software company.

The layoff came at a time in my life when our children had all “flown from the nest”, and my wife was ready to get back out into the work force. So, in a sense, I took advantage of the change to begin to teach myself how to create websites: blogs, community sites, and e-commerce.

It took me a few years. (I was not in a big hurry.) And during that time I also had a part-time job working for the local newspaper. But I learned some stuff. I made some mistakes and enjoyed several successes.

Then, a few months ago, my elderly mother came to live with us, and that meant that I needed to spend even more time at home to see to her needs.

Which brings me back to the present: Although I had been planning these projects for quite a while, it has only been since February, 2008, that I have been able to begin to work on them consistently.

And today, April 15, 2008, almost seven years from the day I lost my job, I am happily reminiscing to tunes from my past.
